Kokka Movie Review

Every Punjabi cinema fan was excited to witness the onscreen chemistry of Gurnam Bhullar and Neeru Bajwa in Kokka. The film was one of the most anticipated ones as the fresh casting of Neeru-Gurnam had made fans curious. The film is finally released and we have penned an honest Kokka movie review for you. Written by Rupinder Inderjit, and directed by Santosh Subhash Thite & Bhanu Thakur, the film is a good initiative to break stereotypes, with some ifs and buts.

story

Starting the kokka movie review with the most important aspect; the story of the movie, we’re sure you’re excited to see it in theaters too. As shown in the trailer, Kokka is the love story of a woman in her 40s with a man in his 20s.

As they fall in love ignoring their age difference, the fairytale love story is soon disrupted by the entrance of some new characters. And without giving you too many surprises, let us tell you that the film is not just about what the trailer had to reveal. there’s so much more, and in fact, the real story begins at the point where the movie trailer ends.

acting & performances

Who could have doubted the skills of Pollywood queen Neeru Bajwa? has proven her worth in several blockbuster movies. and on the other hand, gurnam bhullar is a name that is growing phenomenally. Although they are both two of the best actors in the Punjabi industry, in some sequences their chemistry is perfect. every time neeru bajwa says “kutta hai tu” and gurnam’s cute replies make her chemistry interesting. but in some sequences the chemistry fails to create butterflies in the stomach experience.

but still, when we talk about her performances individually, neeru bajwa rocked the role of a 40-year-old woman, as her expression, delivery of lines, and everything was super convincing. We must also appreciate Neeru for the specific sequences in which she portrays the awkwardness, shame, hopelessness, and other feelings of an old single woman.

On the other side of the plate, Gurnam Bhullar also stood out by drawing us in with his goofy and charming performance in the shell of an immature young man. the way he gets into dilemmas and struggles to deal with his feelings was just beautiful.

But at some points, you may also feel that the leads’ performances are drifting. in some limited sequences, gurnam seems extremely raw as an actor, and neeru bajwa also ran too much with the emotions and made the scene seem overacted.

secondary cast

The film’s supporting cast included excellent actors like rupinder rupi, gurpreet bhangu and baljinder kaur, but we still can’t figure out what went wrong. they actually lacked the magic to add charm to the movie. despite being given enough screen space, they failed to attract us or gain recognition.

the only one among these who shone was baljinder kaur, who played the mother of gurnam bhullar. yes, we can not reveal much about her character; theirs is a fundamental role. but she pays attention to our words, that her character will last long in your memory.

music

The music of any film plays an important role in shaping the overall look and presentation of the project. and in kokka movie review we are also going to dedicate a special part to the music of the film.

Starting from the background score provided by nilesh dahanukar, I needed a lot of help. it had nothing that could help us connect more with the story. but kokka’s musical aspect has been saved by his playlist that includes 3 good songs.

tu te main de raj ranjodh, sukh kharoud & Simar Kaur’s Darling and Simple Peera in Gurnam’s Voice were three songs that have contributed to a decent Kokka playlist.

address & editing

Personally, we really felt that the concept of the film and its story were good. but if a little more time had been dedicated to its post-production, it could have turned the tables.

directors santosh subhash thite & bhanu thakur have failed to make the romantic film a wholesome viewing experience. but it seems tarun chauhan’s editing team has worked hard to make the project smooth and worth watching.

suggestions

As already mentioned, there were some glitches that affected the overall presentation of the movie. if the film crew had been more focused and specific about the end product they needed, the film might have pushed them in the right direction.

Small abrupt changes in his camera work, dubbing, music, directing, execution and performances have also moved up in our kokka movie review.

general

Keeping all the special moments, appreciations, team efforts, and failures, we can conclude that Kokka is a one-time good watch. sure you can enjoy the movie with your friends and family. in this you will be entertained with a conventional love story that tries to break stereotypes.
