Dagudumootha dandakor movie review

Continuing the trend of remaking tamil movies, ramoji rao and director krish teamed up to remake the super-hit tamil movie saivam. Entitled Dagudumuta Dandakor, this movie has Rajendra Prasad in a lead role and it has hit the screens today. let’s see how it is.

history:-

raju garu (rajendra prasad) is one of the most respected people in his village. she lives with her son and her granddaughter while the rest of her family lives in the city. Raju Garu has a pet cock which is particularly loved by her granddaughter.

during one of the summer vacations, the whole family gathers and spends valuable time with raju garu. twist in the story comes when a mishap occurs in the family. local priests in the village suggest that the family perform a religious ritual that involves the sacrifice of their pet.

what will the family do now? Will they follow their tradition and sacrifice their beloved pet? which forms the rest of the story. plus points:-

dagudumutha dandakor stands out for its traditional values and brings the ancient joint family culture once again to Telugu films. the way family ties and relationships have been shown is just wonderful. the nativity, the atmosphere of the village and the mentality of the people who live outside the villages have been treated very well.

Rajendra Prasad gives a mature performance and holds the film together. Although she doesn’t have much dialogue, her expressions speak volumes about her talent. the girl who played a key role is very good. she is the main room and shows wonderful expressions throughout the movie.

The comedy built around family and child performers is decent. the first half of the movie is entertaining with good family episodes. the displayed message about harming animals is also treated well.

negative points:-

after setting up a decent first half, the first fifteen minutes of the second half get a bit bogged down. some unnecessary scenes arise that spoil the flow of the film. another big drawback of the film is the lack of emotional depth. the movie had enough room to evoke emotion, but the filmmakers didn’t make the most of the opportunity.

From the beginning of the second half, the movie becomes predictable and one can easily tell what will happen next. this movie is a bit slow for commercial movie lovers and has absolutely no masala elements.

technical aspects:-

The film’s production values are very good and it beautifully showcases the atmosphere of the town. the camera work is top notch and the art direction too. The film’s script is decent and flows smoothly. the music is also good and the traditional background score elevates the film well.

Rajendra Prasad’s make-up looks strange as proper care must have been taken to make his character look believable. the dialogues are emotional. Coming to director R K Malineni, she managed to do a decent job of narrating herself and sets the remake on a nice tone. the only place she falters is in giving the movie emotional depth.

verdict:-

Overall, dagudumutha dandakor is simple and shows decent family values. interesting first half and good performance from rajendra prasad are core assets. on the other hand, a predictable second half and lack of emotional depth work against the film. Anyone who likes country-town dramas with lots of traditional values will end up liking this movie.
