Disenchanted release date, trailer and more about Enchanted 2

Disenchanted is only a couple of months away and we finally have the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Disenchanted.

The trailer debuted at the d23 expo on September 9th, and while it contained no song trailers, it did reveal an important plot point: it looks like Giselle could become the evil stepmother!

We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out when Disenchanted premieres on Disney+ in November. It’s not too bad of a wait as the sequel was first confirmed over a decade ago, so a couple of months is nothing for delighted fans.

While we wait, though, here’s everything you need to know about Disenchanted, aka Enchanted 2.

disenchanted release date: when will disenchanted 2 be released?

disenchanted will be released on disney+ on thanksgiving, making it November 24, 2022 for non-US fans in May 2022.

the sequel was filmed between may and july 2021 in ireland, before some reshoots were done in march and april 2022. now that the release date has been confirmed and the trailer has been released, we hope that the November date.

Otherwise, we’ll definitely be the ones disappointed. For now, you can watch Enchanted again on Disney+.

As mentioned above, the first trailer for Disenchanted dropped in September 2022 to give us our best look yet at the sequel.

Everything seems to be going well at first when Giselle and Robert move to suburban Monroeville to continue their happily ever after. Giselle quickly realizes that it is more difficult than they thought, and a decision of hers leads her to become potentially evil.

disenchanted cast: who’s coming back for haunted 2?

Unsurprisingly, Amy Adams is back as Giselle in the sequel, but that shouldn’t surprise us too much.

Back in 2016, when director Adam Shankman first signed on, Amy Adams said she “won’t let anyone else play Giselle” and confirmed in 2018 that she’s still “absolutely up for it” if the sequel goes ahead.

She’s not the only returning original star, as she’ll be joined by Patrick Dempsey as Robert, James Marsden as Prince Edward, and Idina Menzel as Nancy.

Thanks to the reshoots, we got our first look at Adams and Dempsey as Giselle and Robert, so you can enjoy them again below if you missed them the first time.

Gabriella Baldacchino will play Robert’s grown daughter Morgan, while other newcomers include Maya Rudolph as Giselle’s new nemesis Malvina, Kolton Stewart as Malvina’s son, Yvette Nicole Brown as Rosalyn, Jayma Mays as Ruby and Oscar Nunez as Edgar.

the trailer gave us some hints about rudolph’s villain, who seems to be the main person in monroeville and clashes with giselle when she moves to the suburb. In May 2021, Rudolph revealed that he may not have always accepted the role.

“If this had been 15 years ago and someone had asked me if I wanted to be the bad guy, I might have said, ‘Gee, I don’t know,'” he said. “But I’ve come to learn in my many years that the most fun you can have is when you can play the most.”

Behind the scenes, Hairspray’s Adam Shankman is directing the film, while enchanted duo Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz are back with new songs for the sequel.

disenchanted plot: what is enchanted 2 about?

With the release of the first trailer, we have a new disenchanted synopsis:

In September 2021, Adams teased that the sequel features “a lot more singing and a lot more dancing,” which had a particular drawback. “The last time I really danced as far as it takes to dance on this, I was 20, and now I’m not 20,” he said.

“It feels different than 40. In my heart, I look like I’m 20 when I’m dancing, and then I’d look at the playback and say, ‘Wow, that’s not the same.'”

Speaking of singing, Disenchanted will also fix a mistake from the first movie and have Menzel sing after he had his number removed from the first movie. Dempsey will also sing in the film, marking her first time doing so.

“I’m going to sing for the first time. I’ve never sung in public, for a reason. So bear with me,” he said. “I hope the fans will accept it, but they have set me up for success and the lyrics are really funny.”
