Like many comedians of his day, Anderson found his big break when he appeared on “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson” in 1984, making him one of the biggest comedians of the decade.

He did stand-up comedy specials, made more appearances on late-night talk shows, and landed roles in such classics as 1986’s “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and 1988’s “Coming To America.”

In 1995, he created and starred in the hit Fox animated series “Life with Louie.” led to two daytime emmy awards. From 1999 to 2002 he was the host of “Family Feud”.

Then, between 2016 and 2019, she found her biggest recognition playing the overbearing mother of a rodeo clown played by Zack Galifianakis on the fx series “Baskets.” She had Anderson win a Primetime Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in the show’s first season.

anderson died on January 21. Before that, the comedian announced that he was hospitalized to treat blood cancer.
