ravi chavali, who directed films like samanyudu and srimanarayana, returns with his latest film, ‘sketch’, which opens today. he reads the review to find out what the film has in store for us.
history:
The film is based on a group of seven friends that includes five boys and two girls. Vasi, one of the boys in the group, fixes her eyes on a foreign girl and plans to rape her. he makes a perfect sketch and kills her along with her friends. but to her bad luck, one of the girls in the group, pragya, sees the crime. With no other choice, Vasi and his friends try to kill Pragya. but due to a tragic accident, she falls into a coma. a case is registered and a policeman named nayak (narsing) is assigned the duty of catching criminals. the rest of the story is about how she hunts down the killers and puts them in jail.
positive points:
narsing who played the role of nayak is good in his role. The way he approaches the case and gives a good performance in Telangana lingo makes things a bit interesting.
The way drug addicts behave in real life has been shown quite realistically in the film. Although all the guys in the villainous group are new, they have given a decent performance. their outfits and the way they approach crime look decent.
negative points:
although the plot is decent, the way director ravi chavai has narrated the film is quite disappointing. the crime investigation shown is not exciting at all and this is where the film completely disappoints. Since the movie is a crime thriller, there are no major twists in the movie, which is a big disappointment.
The first half wanders here and there as all the focus is on the junkies. key proceedings begin after the felony is committed and things look good only in snippets. Since all the actors are new, it takes time to adjust to the procedures and get a feel for the film.
technical aspects:
karthika’s music is below average and the background soundtrack was even more disappointing and failed to elevate the film in any possible way. Surnder Reddy’s camera work was impressive. junaid’s edit is fine but some scenes in the first half might have been cut. the film’s production values are acceptable.
referring to the director ravi, he has done a very disappointing job with the film. his narration is pathetic as it doesn’t generate much interest in this police thriller. because of this, the movie becomes slow and unappealing to the audience.
verdict:
Overall, Super Sketch is a movie that doesn’t have the basic nonsense that a crime thriller needs. aside from this, the narration is also bland and doesn’t excite you much. as the film has mostly newcomers, things become even more difficult for the audience to give this film a chance this weekend. watch at your own risk.
