When does the new sonic 2 movie come out
sonic the hedgehog 2 is coming full speed to our screens in April 2022 and the first trailer arrives as an early Christmas present.
The trailer debuted during the game awards on December 9 to give us our first look at the sequel, including glimpses of Tails and Knuckles joining Sonic in the new movie. has had a much better reception than the trailer for the first film…
Filming for the sequel wrapped at the end of July and, as far as we know, everything is on track. To whet fans’ appetites, we’ve had some very exciting cast announcements for iconic characters Tails and Knuckles.
The official title of the sequel was revealed in February 2021 as sonic the hedgehog 2 (who saw that coming?). Like the video game of the same name, it will give Tails a larger role after the credits scene brought the beloved character into the cinematic universe.
With the same creative team (director jeff fowler and screenwriters pat casey and josh miller) as the first, hope is high that this will be another fun adventure for the speedy blue hedgehog on the big screen.

As mentioned above, the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has now hit our screens, giving us a glimpse of the sequel’s expanded scope.
is packed with references to the game series, including the arrival of dr. robotnik to earth in an egg-shaped spaceship and the appearance of a chaos emerald that seems to have all the power in the universe.
The trailer ends with Sonic’s first battle with Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba), but will they still be antagonists at the end of the movie?

The sequel has been confirmed to hit theaters on April 8, 2022 in the UK and US, barring any delays.
fowler officially announced the start of production on March 16, 2021, before announcing that filming had wrapped in Vancouver on May 13, 2021.
“that’s a finale in vancouver! thanks to all the amazing cast/crew in this city…so much amazing talent that helps make #sonicmovie2 truly special (and spoiler alert…epic!) )”, wrote.
and then filming concluded in hawaii on June 25, 2021, which appears to be the end of filming for the sequel, though extensive visual effects work will still be done to add sonic and company to the world.
However, fingers crossed, it looks like everything is on track for the April 2022 release.

Ben Schwartz is back as the voice of Sonic and he is joined by James Marsden as Tom (aka Mr. Donut) and Tika Sumpter as Maddie, as well as Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik.
The credits scene of the first film had colleen o’shaughnessey’s voice tails, as she does today in the wider sound world. in December 2021, it was confirmed that she will also play the character in the sequel, which is the right decision.

However, the excellent cast doesn’t end there, as Knuckles is voiced by none other than Idris Elba, and now we get to hear his take on the character for the first time in the first trailer.
It had previously been reported that the sequel would feature Knuckles after co-writer Pat Casey teased that the sequel might feature Knuckles after the Echidna tribe was seen at the beginning of the first film.

As for other new names, criminal minds and swat star Shemar Moore has confirmed he’ll star in the sequel, though we don’t know exactly who he’ll play just yet.
Lee Majdoub revealed in September 2021 that she would return as long-suffering government agent Stone, while Natasha Rothwell and Adam Pally will return as Maddie’s sister Rachel and Tom’s deputy boss Wade, respectively.

Along with the first trailer, we get the official synopsis for the sequel. “After settling down in rolling green hills, Sonic is eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero,” he says.
“his test comes when dr. robotnik returns, this time with a new sidekick, knuckles, in search of an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. sonic teams up with his own sidekick, tails, and together they set sail on a globetrotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”
we knew that dr robotnik would return as a credits sequence in the first movie dr robotnik trapped on the mushroom planet, 87 days later and with a more video game look.
He also still had Sonic’s feather and it’s clear from the trailer that he hasn’t stopped in his quest to steal Sonic’s powers.
at least sonic won’t be alone in the fight since the other credits sequence confirmed that tails would be in the sequel. We see this scene again in the trailer for the sequel when he reaches the green hills through a circular portal.
did you know each other in the past? the sequel might as well go back to his childhood to fill in his backstory.
and of course dr robotnik is causing more mischief in the sequel, giving him the opportunity to introduce chaos emeralds which can be used to teleport (among many other powers). Does it only have the one we saw in the trailer or does it have more?
