Avanthika movie review

Video Avanthika movie review

Following the trend of horror comedies, yet another movie, avanthika, has hit the screens today. let’s see how it is.

story:

avanthika (poorna) is an innocent village girl who has big dreams in her life. taking advantage of this, a politician (ajay ghosh) ends her life with the help of a baba (sayaji shinde) for her own benefit.

The real story begins when a guy named sreenu(sri raj) moves into the same apartment where she is murdered. what situations will sreenu face there? when will sreenu find out about avanthika’s presence in the apartment? Is there an evil spirit involved in all of this? To find out the answers, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.

positive points:

Poorna has an impressive village girl look and gives a good performance as a ghost. heroine geetanjali as malli is decent in her role. a romantic duet that comes during the first half looks good. the natural places shown in the song are too good.

the cg work shown in the ghost scenes is very good. comedians dhanraj and shakala shankar impress in parts with their humor and punches. director cum hero, sri raj’s performance is decent as a lower class boy from the village. his appearance and dialogues are pretty good.

negative points:-

although director sri raj chose a normal horror comedy, it failed miserably in its execution. the film begins on a flat note and continues to the end at the same tempo. it doesn’t have any attractive scenes and outstanding actors like ajay ghosh and sayaji shinde are completely wasted.

The heroine has a very limited role in the film and appears helpless most of the time. Sri Raj’s script is disappointing, as is her narration. both halves don’t have much to offer and don’t bore the audience.

technical aspects:

director sri raj played a safe game by choosing a horror comedy, but failed miserably in the way he narrated things. all the scenes he shows are routine and quite predictable. siva and prasad’s editing work is good and he managed to keep the movie’s running time pretty sharp. Karna’s camera work is fine as it captured the natural locations very well.

ravi balla’s music is decent and his old music and the instrumentation used in the second song will impress the audience. production values are fine for this low-budget movie.

verdict:

Overall, avanthika is a mundane, outdated horror comedy with flat storytelling all the way through. Comedians Dhanraj and Shakalaka Shankar get some laughs in this movie that doesn’t have much to offer and can easily be skipped this weekend as it may have better things to do.
