Lakshya movie review

lakshya is a movie that has naga shourya in the role of an archer. The sports drama premiered today, so let’s see how it goes.

history:

pardhu(naga shourya) is a gifted archer since his childhood. Seeing his talent, Pardhu’s grandfather Sachin Khedekar sacrifices his earnings and joins him at the best archery academy in Hyderabad. Soon enough, Pardhu becomes the state champion and makes his grandfather proud. The twist in the story comes when Pradhu’s grandfather suddenly passes away. With this shock, Pardhu becomes addicted to drugs. the rest of the story is about how pardhu holds his own in life and wins the world championship.

positive points:

naga shourya is the biggest asset of this film and does a sincere job. Whether it’s his physical transformation or his emotional performance, shourya has done well throughout the film. sachin khedekar as shourya’s grandfather was great.

ketika sharma lands a pivotal role after romantic and does an impressive job as shourya’s candid girlfriend. how naga shourya gets addicted to drugs and spoils his career has been well demonstrated.

kireeti in a negative role is good and moves well. the first half is decently paced and the conflict point is well induced at the breaking point as well. Shatru, who plays the main villain, was graceful in her role.

negative points:

first, the archery game is quite new to the audience. therefore, a good explanation of how it works should have been introduced only at the beginning. in the second half, the archery setup and world championship look pretty silly and poorly designed.

Emotions between naga shourya and his grandfather should have been heightened to create more impact in the second half. post decent first half, second half launches with boring narration and forced emotions.

jagapathi babu’s role lacks depth and is silly. the way the prominent actor plays him is also exaggerated. why shourya made a comeback should have been narrated in a more gripping way. plus, the climax is boring and wrapped without any emotional impact.

technical aspects:

The film’s production values are decent, but the sporting backdrop and the way the championship is played out in the climax are sub-par. kaala bhairava’s music is pretty ordinary but their bgm was decent. the editing is ok but the scenes related to jagapathi babu and shourya should have been cut in the second half.

as for the director santosh, he has done a good job with the film. he sets the story, the emotions well in the first half. but since he barely has any story left in the second half, he brings up boring clues that lack emotional connection. If he had dramatized Shourya’s fight a bit more, the movie would have been something else.

verdict:

Overall, lakshya is an archery based sports drama with a featured performance by naga shourya. the first half is good, but things fizzle out in the second half with forced emotions and a dull climax. all those who like sports dramas can give this movie a try, but there is nothing new that this movie shows.
