Mehabooba telugu movie review

Video Mehabooba telugu movie review

After launching several heroes and heroines into the world of cinema, Puri Jagan is now launching his son Akash Puri as a full-fledged hero with today’s release of Mehbooba. Let’s see how the movie turns out.

history:

roshan (akash puri) is a young man who always dreams of joining the army. This is also the time when a girl named Afreen (Neha Shetty) comes to India for her studies. The young couple cross paths only to discover that they have been reincarnated since 1971 during the India-Pakistan war and have been separated under some dire circumstances. The rest of the story is how the couple resolve their issues that have been publicized by the animosity between India and Pakistan.

positive points:

akash puri puts in a decent effort with mehbooba. As he has enough experience of facing the screen before as a child artist, he looks comfortable in front of the camera. although he seems a bit young and naive on his part, he has done a decent job of playing him. akash is good in the emotional department and does what is required of him.

on the other hand, neha shetty is good in her role as afreen and shows a lot of promise. she looks good and does well in her complex role. murali sharma is good as the heroine’s father. Vishu Reddy, who plays the main villain, is a nice find and has a good screen presence. His dialogue delivery is clear and if he chooses his roles well, he can go very far in tollywood.

The first half of the movie has some decent emotions that have been elevated quite nicely. the interval explosion showing the reincarnation theme has been set well. a scene related to the rivalry between india and pakistan in the climax where akash articulates heavy dialogue is good.

negative points:

one of the biggest drawbacks of the film is that there is no chemistry between the two leads. for a reincarnation theme to be strong, there must be a solid love line between the main couple that is completely missing in the pre-rebirth and post-rebirth episodes.

another irritant of the film is that the rivalry between india and pakistan has dragged on too long in the second half. the whole climax occurs on the india-pak edge which seems overdone and unnecessary. the movie loses a lot of logic as the military and the seriousness related to the border are shown in a silly way.

The second half is where the movie fails. Even though Puri’s idea of bringing the film to Pakistan looks good, it has been overused and dragged on to no extent. there was absolutely no need to show such rivalry between two countries. in addition, the scenes before the reincarnation do not create any impact.

technical aspects:

The production values of the film are top notch as puri connects has managed to create a nice effect by showing the army setup which looks quite flashy. the visual effects used and the camera work shown during the war scenes are very good. Sandeep Chowtha’s music is fine as all the songs are featured in the narration. the background score is decent as the music for the war scenes looks good. the editing is bad as at least ten minutes of the second half could have been edited out to make the movie sharp.

referring to director puri jagan, he has done a lukewarm job with the film. although his story idea looks good on paper, his execution of the love story is rather disappointing as it lacks the basic depth. puri has shown his son well and given him a good launching pad to showcase his acting skills, but as a filmmaker, he makes the proceedings dumb and drags the film down to no extent by showing too much patriotism which was totally unnecessary.

verdict:

Overall, mehbooba is a good story let down by uneven execution. while akash puri shows good prospects, the film as a whole is slow, overblown, and has an unattractive love story. some good production values, a decent first half are the only assets and one can give this movie a chance on these merits alone. watch it only if you have absolutely nothing to do, as there is nothing new that you haven’t seen before.
