Sreemanthudu movie review

Every time there’s a mahesh babu movie on the cards, the entire industry sits up and takes notice. srimanthudu is mahesh’s biggest release to date and it premiered today. Also starring Shruthi Haasan, this film is directed by Koratala Shiva. let’s see how it is.

history:-

harsha(mahesh babu) is the son of a billionaire named ravikanth(jagapathi babu). he is quite simple in life and shares different ideologies than his father. one day he meets charusheela (shruthi haasan) and gradually falls in love with her.

The twist in the story comes when charusheela turns down harda’s proposal and reveals a shocking truth about her hometown and her troubles. an angry rough, now he embarks on a personal mission to his village and meets sasi (sampath) and his gang who are troubling the villagers in a big way.

The rest of the story is about how hardha’s personal mission turns into a revolution and helps the villagers grow and prosper in the future.

positive points:-

Let’s start by talking about the emotional content of Srimanthusu. the movie is pretty heavy on moral values and giving back to society. Credit must go to Koratla Shiva for sticking to the content and sending a strong message through the character of the hero. Mahesh is majestic in his role and gives his career the best performance. his role is tailor made and mahesh carries the entire movie on his shoulders. he looks handsome like a college student and the way he expresses mixed emotions during the second half is a class apart.

shruthi haasan has a meaty role and is pretty decent in the movie. The pairing of her with Mahesh seems fresh and brings novelty to the film. jagapathi babu is real in her role and gives the film an extra edge. the way his character is shot and all the scenes of his confrontation with mahesh are excellent.

The first half of the film is quite vibrant and has some very elegant moments. the second half has an emotional undertone and koratala shiva manages to get great performances out of all the artists in it. Rajendra Prasad is quite nice in her character. the production values of the film are quite good and show the film in a rich light.

negative points:-

One of the drawbacks of the film is the pacing, as the proceedings take their own time. there are certain scenes in the town that could have been edited to make the film sharp. Although the story is quite novel, it is also slightly predictable in nature.

sukanya is wasted in her role and has no screen space. ali and vennela kishore are underused and could have been raised higher to generate some entertainment. the climax of the movie picks up as the proceedings wrap up in a simpler way.

technical aspects:-

The script is adequate, but some scenes could have been cut during the second half to make the proceedings racy. Madhie’s camera work is top notch as all the pictures look quite nice. the way he has shown the atmosphere of the town during the second half is quite good. Arsu’s anal fights need a special mention as they look quite new and have been choreographed very stylishly.

dsp’s music is quite good and grows on you once you see his songs on the screen. But it’s Devi’s background score that takes the movie to another level. the dialogues are novel and will connect with the common man quite easily.

referring to director koratala shiva, he has done an amazing job and has shown mahesh like never before. the way he brings out an established performance and presents mahesh in an emotional avatar is quite endearing. shiva narrates the film without any unnecessary commercial aspects and injects some meaningful family moments that are sure to go down well with everyone.

verdict:-

Overall, srimanthudu is a stunning emotional family drama that will tug at everyone’s heartstrings. mahesh babu’s career best performance and a novel concept are great assets. Barring the somewhat predictable nature of the film, Mahesh fans can rejoice when their superstar returns with a vengeance and thoroughly entertains from the start. finally, simple, clean, meaningful family entertainment that’s set to rule the box office for weeks to come. a must see.
