Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has been looking for a hit from quite some time now. He is back with his latest presentation Patas, which is directed by debutante Anil Ravipudi. This action entertainer which also stars Shruthi Sodhi as the female lead has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
history:-
kalyan sinha (kalyan ram) is a corrupt police officer who is transferred to hyderabad. once he lands there, he misuses his power and starts minting money. During this process, he also encourages a local politician (Ashutosh Rana) who has become a big headache for the DGP (Sai Kumar) of Hyderabad.
The twist in the story comes when the DGP learns that there is a shocking truth behind Kalyan Sinha’s arrival in Hyderabad. what is that truth why did kalyan sinha become a corrupt official? To find out the answers to these questions, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.
positive points:-
The main point in favor of the film is the large dose of entertainment. Credit must go entirely to director Anil Ravipudi for creating an energetic character for Kalyan Ram and also adding decent amounts of comedy throughout the film. not once during the entire film does the tempo drop and the thrill continues to the end. Although the story of this film is routine, the way it has been narrated is amazing.
this is probably the best role of kalyan ram’s career and he excels in his character. As shown in the trailers, he is quite energetic and shows decent acting skills in all of his powerful scenes. the hard work he has put in, whether it be for his dances or his fights, it all shows on screen. heroine shruthi sodhi is a decent find and she looks good on screen. Balakrishna’s remix song has been shot exceptionally well and is one of the highlights of the second half.
comedian srinivasa reddy is a standout in the comedy department. His role as Kalyan Ram’s sidekick is efficient as he provides decent comedy during the first half. all the scenes of him with kalyan have also turned out well. Ashutosh Rana and Sai Kumar do their respective roles well. the late ms narayana once again entertains us like a shining star subhash. while the first half has hilarious entertainment, the second half has high-octane confrontational episodes.
negative points:-
Like I said before, the story of this movie is pretty old and stale. there’s not much going on story-wise and the plot is also predictable. the heroine shruthi sodhi does not have much to do in the film and she only appears during the songs. certain logics regarding the police department are lost in the film. some fights could have been cut to shorten the execution time.
technical aspects:-
The music is a big plus as all the songs are pretty good and they’ve also been shot pretty fancy. Sai Karthik’s background score is excellent and takes all the confrontation scenes to another level. the camera work is good and it shows the emotions well. the dialogues are perfect and fit the mood of the movie.
director anil ravipudi takes the cake in paws. it’s his brash storytelling that works magnificently for the film. From the beginning, he has made sure that there is enough fun and shows Kalyan Ram in a powerful role. the script is crisp and doesn’t leave much room for lag.
verdict:-
Overall, Patas is sure to end up as Kalyan Ram’s biggest hit to date. the powerful characterization of the hero and the enormous doses of entertainment at all times are the main assets of the film. all those who don’t mind the routine plot and are looking for pure fun, then this commercial potboiler shouldn’t be missed.
