Love stories have always been a part and parcel of Tollywood. Many films have been made on this subject, and debut director Pavan Sadineni has come up with an youthful love story in Prema Ishq Kadal. Starring the handsome Harshvardhan Rane and a few new comers, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
prema ishq kadal shows three different love stories. The first story features randy (harshvardhan rane), a coffee shop owner. randy is a great music lover and always keeps on playing music in his store. Citing his talent, Sarayu (Vitika) convinces Randy to give a concert. soon their journey as friends turns into love.
The second story is from arjun(harish varma), an rj at a radio station. Arjun is a playboy by nature and leads a very colorful life. one day he sets his eyes on shanti (srimukhi) and decides to woo her at all costs. But his playboy image takes a beating when he falls deeply in love with Shanti.
The last story has royal raju(vishnu), who works as an assistant director in movies. Raju has certain criteria in mind and he only wants to marry a girl who is open minded and smokes and drinks like him. Raju meets Sameera (ritu varma), a costume designer on her stage, who also shares the same ideologies as him and falls in love with her.
The rest of the story is how these three love stories cope with the pressure and how many of them emerge victorious.
The highlight of the film is the decent performances from the main cast. Newcomer Vishnu steals the show as Royal Raju. the appearance of him, dialogues and mannerisms of him as a country boy are quite good. Harishvardhan Rane is perfectly suited to his role as a rock star, as is Harish Varma as a playboy.
ritu varma is quite good as the modern girl and does justice to her role. Vitika has a decent role and impresses everyone with her acting skills.
the twist shown between arjun and shanti in the second half is quite interesting. satyam rajesh is hilarious as a star of the millennium and pulls off good comedy in the movie.
The climactic episode has been designed quite well. the way the three love stories have been justified is also impressive. production values are quite good in prema ishq kadal.
After an interesting first half, the second half becomes pretty routine. the pacing drops quite a bit and all the scenes become predictable.
the duration of the film is quite long. If the director could have made the second half sharper, the film would have been more gripping. the entertainment quotient is slightly off in the second half.
This film is aimed at a multiplex audience and does not have the so-called commercial and mass elements.
The camera work in the film is very good. From the very first frame, cameraman Karthik has made this movie look colorful. Shravan’s lively music and gripping background score are a huge plus for this film.
The film’s dialogues are quite innovative. As stated above, the filmmakers have not compromised on production values and made this film with a lot of heart.
last but not least, director pavn sadineni must be appreciated for his efforts. he has taken a basic love story and beautifully set it between three young couples.
Overall, Prema Ishq Kadal is a decent love cheerleader. the rich production values, the commendable performances and the unique backdrop are the main plus points of this film. Mainly aimed at the multiplex audience, this movie is sure to do well in malls.
