Video Puli telugu movie review

puli de vijay is one of the most anticipated films of the recent past. Starring a huge list of superstars, this movie is directed by Chimbu Devan and has hit the screens today. let’s see how it turns out.

The story takes place in a fantasy kingdom called Bhetala Desam which is ruled by an evil prince Yavvana Rani (Sridevi). he tortures everyone and occupies the sixty nearby villages.

on the other hand, manoharudu (vijay) is a daring fighter from one of the villages ruled by yavvana rani. As time goes by, Manoharudu falls in love with his childhood friend Mandara Malli (Shruthi Haasan). Things take a turn for the worse when some thugs from Bhetala Desam kidnap Malli.

an upset manohardu takes matters into his own hands and decides to enter the fantasy realm to save his beloved. he will be successful? What are the obstacles he faces on his journey? that forms the rest of the story.

positive points:-

The film’s main selling point is its visual grandeur. Puli has top notch visuals and instantly reminds you of some Hollywood movies. credit should go to the creators for trying something new and running it on a massive scale. Vijay is the main stay and is well suited to his role.

sridevi makes a surprising comeback and looks menacing in her negative role. the wardrobe, makeup of her and the way she has portrayed the character of her is top notch. Shruthi Haasan looks stunning and oozes glamor in a big way. Hansika is decent in her role and provides the necessary visual appeal.

The graphics used to show the lavish castles and locations give the film a rich look. the second half of the movie is where the real action begins. sudeep does an excellent job in the negative role of her.

negative points:-

one of puli’s main disappointments is the way chimbu devan executes the film. his narration lacks focus as he couldn’t implement what was written on paper. the movie is tediously long and takes forever to finish. the first half has no basic story and moves on the romantic track of vijay and shruthi haasan.

Although the film is visually good, there are certain scenes that lack clarity. the flashback shown seems jaded and throws the movie off in a big way. the songs are another big drawback of the film. they come at regular intervals and spoil the mood of the movie.

the script is pathetic, since many scenes have just been added to give it a commercial touch. logic is lost big time and the way vijay’s character behaves in certain scenes seems confusing.

technical aspects:-

puli is technically a very strong film. the movie is quite great and shows some scenes never seen before in Indian movies. the camera work is amazing and it shows the fantasy realm in dazzling light. the wardrobe used for sridevi and her makeup needs a special mention. as said above devi sri prasad’s music is pretty bad and so is her background music.

The visual effects that have been used to create animals such as the tortoise and the black tiger capture the imagination and will delight children. the script goes haywire and confuses the audience after a point. director chimbu devan does a mediocre job and adds unnecessary scenes and complicates the plot.

Overall, puli is a movie with a good concept and poor execution. boring storytelling and lackluster script spoil the mood of the movie big time. Aside from the stunning visuals and stellar performances from Vijay and Sridevi, this fantasy drama doesn’t have much going for it. all those who are interested in multiple stars and lavish movie making can give this movie a shot, others can take it easy. rating: 2.5/5 reviewed by 123telugu team
