Soukhyam movie review

Video Soukhyam movie review

after jil’s lukewarm response, gopichand has played it safe by choosing a familiar entertainer like soukhyam. Directed by Ravi Kumar Chowdary, this movie has Regina as the female lead and it has hit the screens today. let’s see how she is.

history:-

seenu(gopichand) is a happy and lucky boy who falls in love with sailu(regina). he continues to court her and just as Sailu accepts her proposal, her family members kidnap her and arrange her marriage to the son of a corrupt politician.

The twist in the story comes when seenu’s father asks him to stay away from all this mess and move on with his life. seenu promises his father that he will do it, but somehow manages to rescue sailu from this difficult situation. how he manages to do all of this is what the whole story is about.

positive points:-

gopichand looks extremely handsome and plays his role quite well. he has improved with his emotions and is now comfortable with the image of the boy next door. regina looks good and performs to the best of her ability. the production values are good and some comedy scenes during the first half are okay.

sahukar janaki is good in her small role during the first half. the chemistry between gopichand and regina is also decent. the interval explosion and the pre-interval fight have been designed well.

sivaji raja, raghu babu and 30 years pruthvi manage to elicit a few laughs in the film. Posani is pretty good as him and is the only saving grace in the first half.

negative points:-

From the story, execution and twists, everything is so routine and boring that you know exactly what will happen in the next scene. although the first half has some moments, the love track has dragged on too long and makes things tedious.

It has become a habit to feature special characters like 30 years old pruthvi with parodies of hit movies these days. but this time things fail and the episode featuring pruthivi, krishna bhagvan and gang seems cheap and out of place.

None of the villains in the film fit their roles. the family emotions, the bond between the parents and the necessary uplifting scenes all take a huge turn in the film. the climax is completely boring and the brahmanandam entrance and the whole song and dance formula during this time gets on your nerves big time.

technical aspects:-

Surprisingly, anup rubens’ music is below average, as is the background music. as said before, the production values are good and all the songs have been shot well. the dialogues are good and the art direction too. the editing was so bad that at least twenty minutes of the film could easily have been cut.

Coming to director ravi kumar chowdary, he loses the plot after the first fifteen minutes. not once during the film does he manage to arouse any interest and his entire approach to the film is lukewarm. he uses the bludgeon death formula and throws scenes at you that are bland and make absolutely no sense. kona venkat and gopi mohan’s script is a mess once again, as the proceedings proceed without direction.

verdict:-

Overall, soukhyam is one of the most routine and confrontational films to come out in the recent past. Even though the creators have tried hard to induce some commercial elements and comedy, nothing seems to work and the film fails in all departments. you can safely ignore this movie and look for any other good releases coming out this christmas eve.
