How Does ‘Allegiant’ End? The Third Divergent Movie Goes Out With A Bang
Even if you don’t consider yourself a huge fan of the series, it’s hard not to be intrigued by the latest films in the Divergent franchise. In recent years, it has established itself as one of the biggest series thanks to its stellar cast, led by Shailene Woodley; high-powered action and scary dystopian storylines; and, of course, the love of millions of viewers, which have led to the films being blockbusters. And now the penultimate installment, allegiant, is here, and even those who aren’t big fans of the divergent series will be talking about the ending of allegiant.
of course, the conclusion of the film, out mar. 18, isn’t as exciting as the ending of the next movie, ascendant will be, as the upcoming movie will close out the series with some major surprises, reveals, and even deaths. However, that’s not to say that the ending of allegiant is boring, because believe me, it’s full of drama, all of which I describe below. this is how the divergent series ends: allegiant . this should go without saying, but there are plenty of spoilers ahead!
tris goes to rescue four, who is captured in chicago
A little backstory: The government, led by a leader named David, has a dangerous plan to release a memory-erasing serum in Chicago that will restore peace, but destroy people’s identities. four and tris, who are in a fight, since four always thought david was evil but tris refused to believe it, they want to stop this, but they still don’t know how. Four leaves for Chicago, where he is captured and arrested, while Tris stays in the city. The end of the movie really kicks off when Tris, along with Christina and Caleb, realize Four is right and go to his rescue. They steal a plane, and while being shot at, Tris manages to make a (relatively) safe landing. She and Christina go to find four, while Caleb stays on the plane, using his technology to find the source of the ventilation system so they can stop the serum from spreading.
david sets a plan in motion
Hoping that the serum will quickly spread throughout Chicago, David enlists Tris’s friend-enemy Peter to help him, asking him to go to Chicago and convince one of the leaders, Evelyn, to help him. must be used. Although Evelyn initially resists, she agrees after using a sample of her serum on her ex-husband, Marcus, as a form of punishment. She agrees to David’s plan and goes with Peter to activate the serum, which begins to spread throughout the city.
peter escapes, but shoots evelyn
When tris, four and christina finally find peter, they hope he will stop the attack, but even if he wanted to, there would be no way: the serum is already spreading in their room. peter opens the door and escapes, but not before shooting evelyn. the others go out and form a plan.
tris turns off the font & confront david
tris runs through tunnels, following caleb’s instructions to find the source of the ventilation system and shut it down. He is confronted by a hologram of David, who tells him to stop fighting because he has no shot, but he finds a way out and shoots the tower holding the system, preventing the serum from spreading. David is not very happy.
inform the city of the truth
once everything is settled and tris is back with her team, she tells chicago that there is a whole world out there, informing them of everything she has learned since she jumped the wall.
what happens next? you’ll have to wait until ascendant comes out in 2017 to find out.
