Chitrangada movie review

Video Chitrangada movie review

anjali’s chitrangada, which has been waiting for a release date for a long time, has finally hit the screens today. let’s see if the movie impresses us or not.

history:-

chitra(anjali), a university professor who lives alone in a hostel for working women. As time passes, she begins to behave strangely and continues to sexually harass her fellow hostel mates. Stunned by her behavior, all the girls in the hostel begin to vacate the premises.

After a while, Chitra realizes she’s doing all this because of a deadly dream where she witnesses a lady kill a man. an annoyed chitra takes the help of various techniques and finally discovers that the place of murder is in the united states.

With no other choice, she decides to go to America and solve the mystery herself. what’s wrong with chitra? What is her dream about? And what does she find out in the United States? that forms the rest of the story.

positive points:-

The movie’s script is pretty decent. anjali courting women and the backstory behind it, things like this make for an interesting premise. Anjali has a strong role and she does her best and carries the film on her shoulders. jaya prakash does his role as a doctor decently.

hindi actor, arjuna bajwa is very good in his negative role and impresses in the short time he appears. the track of him with sindhu tolani has been well executed and makes the last fifteen minutes of the film quite interesting. Production values are pretty good, as most of the movie was shot in the US.

negative points:-

chitrangada suffers completely because of a very mediocre execution. after having a solid story, the director completely fails to execute things properly. a simple thriller like this has been in the making for over two hours and twenty minutes and tests the patience of most of the role.

Anjali’s role looks strange in many scenes, as one doesn’t know exactly what she’s doing. plus, the way she’s dressed doesn’t help much. a strong actor like her seems powerless and is forced to overreact to massive applause which fails completely.

songs keep popping up for no reason and disturbing the flow of the movie. swati dixit is wasted on the role of her. saptagiri’s comedy track irritates and should have been avoided altogether.

technical aspects:-

The music in the film is horrible, as is the background score. the editing is pathetic as at least half an hour of the film could easily have been edited out. the dialogues are fine and so was the production design. The camera work is quite good, as the US and elsewhere have been shown quite convincingly.

as for director ashok, he has done a good job. He seems like he convinced Anjali with a good script on paper, but he couldn’t capitalize on either his narration or extracting star performances from her. he gets good points during the last ten minutes and makes the movie interesting during that time.

verdict:-

In general, chitrangada is well scripted, but it doesn’t drag to any extent, which makes the proceedings rather lethargic. Anjali tries hard to save the movie with her one-man show, but lackluster proceedings get the movie nowhere and make for a below-average fare this weekend.
