Scream 6 release date, cast and more

scream 6 will bring ghostface back to theaters in March 2023, which wasn’t much of a surprise given the 2022 box office success.

The new scream movie will feature the same creative team behind the scenes. however, there has been a major shake-up in the cast that has already shocked fans.

The fifth film unleashed a new version of Ghostface on a group of unwitting teenagers, with the OG trio of Sidney, Dewey and Gale trying to help them survive. it was a standalone story, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have a big impact on the next movie.

To get into what we could expect from scream 6 and everything else you need to know, we need to get into some spoilers for scream (2022), so just keep reading if you’ve seen scream.

scream 6 release date: when does scream 6 open in theaters?

scream 6 has been confirmed to be released in theaters on March 31, 2023.

Filming for the sequel has been underway since June 2022, so as far as we know everything is on track for the movie to make it to the March 2023 date.

scream 6 cast: who could come back for scream 6?

We have to start with the big news: Neve Campbell is not coming back as Sidney Prescott.

There’s also some news that could soften the blow of losing Sidney, as Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere will reprise his role as Kirby Reed in the new film. In August 2022, we first saw her comeback.

Also returning from the previous film are Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding as Randy’s niece and nephew, Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin. Roger Jackson will, of course, return as the voice of Ghostface.

New to Scream 6 are Spider-Man star Tony Revolori and former Home and Away star Samara Weaving, along with Henry Czerny, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Josh Segarra, Liana Liberato and Devyn Nekoda.

We still don’t know who any of them are playing against right now.

The fifth film also had a surprise cameo for Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis, who was revealed to be Sam’s father. however, he is very dead, only appearing in his hallucinations, but that doesn’t rule out similar appearances in the new movie.

We got to see Heather Matarazzo again as Martha Meeks after a brief cameo in 2020’s Scream, which also featured voice cameos from Draw Barrymore, Matthew Lillard, and Jamie Kennedy. but not like his characters casey, stu and randy who are surely all dead in the screaming universe… right?

Other 2020 scream actors who did not return for scream 6, albeit for plot-related reasons, include David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, who was brutally murdered by Ghostface in the fifth film.

scream 6 plot: what could scream 6 be about?

As mentioned above, the new scream doesn’t really set up for a sequel in any way, just like the previous movies either.

However, the new film seems to position Sam and Tara Carpenter as the new central characters in the franchise, especially with Sam’s connection to the original film as Billy’s daughter.

This would naturally make her a target in the same way that Sidney was for the original trilogy. Thankfully, Scream avoided the obvious twist to make Sam a killer like her father, and we hope that any future movies will keep this focus.

“Our approach was that now she’s accepted that billy is a part of her. and while he’s never going to stop being a part of her, now she has to move on,” explained co-director matt bettinelli-olpin. to fanaticism.

“we had a part of the movie where she was still medicating herself at the end and we all decided she better not do that and make her feel like she didn’t go back to where she started medicating to erase her past”. and that she is now able to accept billy as part of who she is.”

The only thing we can guarantee at this point in terms of plot is that any future movies would skew current movie and horror trends. scream took on the toxic fandom and “flashbacks” so we’ll just have to wait and see what the goal is next time.

We also don’t know how they’ll handle sidney’s absence, as she will surely come up. However, it would be a huge surprise if Sydney was killed off-screen, so she’s hoping for something like a line about her not wanting to get involved this time.

scream 6 may be filming, but we’ll probably still be waiting a while to see the first images, as we didn’t get the trailer for the previous movie until three months before its release.
