Pakashala movie review

Continuing the trend of low-budget movies, another movie that has generated some curiosity with its interesting trailers is paakashala. this thriller has reached the screens today and let’s see how it turns out.

history:

The film begins with a police officer ready for retirement. the bold officer who often solves all of his cases is unsuccessful in dealing with one particular case that is highly mysterious. Not giving up hope, he assigns this case to one of his subordinates, Vikram, who is suspended at the moment.

vikram takes matters into his own hands and starts handling the case in his own style. The twist in the story comes when he comes to know that he is also indirectly involved in the case.

what is this mysterious case? how does vikram connect to all this? And will he succeed in solving the mystery? that forms the rest of the story.

positive points:

The first half is one of the assets of the film. the entire story of the film takes place against the background of cannibalism. even though it’s quite an offbeat theme in tollywood, it’s been set well here.

keerthi chowdary as devika plays her role well and does her job decently. arpitha enny as suneesha performed well in her limitations. these two ladies carried the entire movie on their shoulders.

some comedy scenes in the first half elicit decent laughs. the twist that comes during the interval is pretty cool. the guy who plays the role of vikram and the rest of the cast are almost fine.

negative points:

The story of the movie is quite predictable. the second half is the biggest drawback and the lack of familiar faces works against the movie in a big way. procedures move on a snail piece and take their own time to reveal.

The flashback episode that comes after the sharp twist of the interval is quite stale and very disappointing. two songs, one during the first half and the other in the second completely obstruct the flow of the film. the background music is another disappointment and very irritating.

technical aspects:

The cinematography is sub-par, as the entire movie is shown in dull, dull lighting. the music is also a big disappointment, as is the background score. the editing is below par, as many scenes could easily have been cut. production values are low.

As for director phani kiran siriki, although he chose a different concept, he has failed to execute it for most of the film. he should have been careful with scripting him as he seemed very slow. he couldn’t generate enough emotions even though the story had a lot of scope.

verdict:

Overall, paakashala is a hugely predictable thriller with a few laughs here and there. Except for the performances of the two leads, this film is full of problems like a long script and outdated execution. you can safely skip this movie this weekend and wait for it to hit TV.
