The position singer shared a black and white photo with her on-screen enemy during what appeared to be a table read. Cynthia replied: “I love you xx”.
The Aretha star followed up by sharing a carousel post that included a black and white video of her hugging Ariana in a hug on set.

She appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show where she spilled tea to guest host Tiffany Haddish about playing Elphaba in the highly anticipated film. “She’s very, very, very exciting. Cynthia and Ariana Grande have been teaming up to prepare for their roles as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively: “I saw her a couple of months ago, we were facetiming and talking,” Cynthia explained to Variety. “I can talk to her a lot now. we’re going to be in each other’s lives for a while.”

According to a September 2022 report from Variety (and an official Twitter announcement from director Jon M. Chu), Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey is in talks to play Elphaba’s love interest, Prince Fiyero. The news comes after Jon announced that there will be two evil movies instead of just one.
Jon kept the initial casting news under wraps until November 2021, when he announced that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Ervio would play Glinda and Elphaba. she went on to tweet: “goooood newwwws! the amazing #cynthiaerivo and @araragrande will be our elphaba and galinda in @wickedmovie @universalpics, get ready for a showdown like you’ve never seen! in pink and green!!!

The addition of Ariana Grande to the cast of the film fulfilled a long-time dream. In 2011, she revealed that playing Glinda would be her “dream role”. she tweeted: “loved seeing evil again… amazing production! made me realize again how much i want 2 to play glinda at some point in my life! #dreamrole.”

what is evil about?
wicked examines the unlikely friendship between glinda, the good witch, and elphaba, the wicked witch of the west. Based on Gregory Maguire’s book of the same name, Evil provides insight into how Glinda and Elphaba’s relationship in their youth led to their roles in the iconic film The Wizard of Oz.
The Broadway play debuted in 2003, starring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. It won three Tony Awards and seven Drama Desk Awards, as well as a Grammy Award.
idina menzel revealed how she’s felt about not being able to play the role she originated in the big screen adaptation, explaining in a broadway.com interview, “I know she’s in good hands and I’ve sent cynthia a lot of love. and ariana, and i’m there for them if they need me. and yeah, i’m kind of sad because i’m older and i can’t play the part, you know? and that’s the honest truth. i would like to say that i’m very brave [and] i don’t I can wait, but it’s hard.”
The Broadway star also joked that the producers could “put a little Vaseline on the lens, put a little green makeup on me, use a little CGI” if they asked her to reprise her role as Elphaba at the age of 51.

there will be not one but two wicked movies. director Jon M. chu confirmed that the two-part film will be released “on successive Christmas holidays starting in December 2024.”
According to people, evil was originally scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021, but covid-related delays forced the movie to be pushed back.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, filming was scheduled to begin in March in Atlanta, but was pushed back to June. The outlet claims that the film will now be shot in the UK as the first production to be filmed on stages at Unviersals’ Sky Studios.
