spider-man 4 may be officially in development at sony and marvel, but we’re nowhere near knowing when it might hit theaters.

marvel studios held an epic comic-con panel where kevin feige confirmed the phase five release dates and some major phase six releases. however, a new spider-man movie was never going to be announced because it is a sony release.

Prior to the release of No Way Home, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal said a new trilogy was in the works. however, she retracted that at the premiere in December 2021 to say that it was essentially just a wish.

Shortly thereafter, Feige confirmed that a new movie was in development, and in May 2022, Sony boss Tom Rothman said that they “looked forward to working on the next Spider-Man movie” with “that whole group.” ie tom holland, zendaya. and company.

The possibilities for that new movie are endless, as there’s no way the home is going to wipe the slate clean for whatever Spidey does next. while that’s exciting for the future, it also means this could very well be the end.

“I definitely had a feeling, as an actor, that this was the last time I could put on the suit, so a lot of that emotion came from the act of saying goodbye, which is one of the biggest.” themes throughout this movie,” Holland explained.

hopefully that’s not the case and we’ll see tom holland as spider-man again in the mcu. With that in mind, here’s what we know about Spider-Man 4 so far.

spider-man 4 possible release date: when will spider-man 4 hit theaters?

As mentioned above, Spider-Man 4 may be in development, but does not yet have a confirmed release date.

Two years have passed between each appearance of Spider-Man in the MCU, but it is unlikely that we will see the fourth movie in 2023. Sony already has two Marvel movies for next year: Spider-Man: Across the Spider- verse (June 2) and madame web (October 6).

sony has an unconfirmed marvel movie release date of june 7, 2024 which could be spider-man 4. however that would place it a month after captain america: new world order and a month before from thunderbolts, so it seems overkill even for the mcu.

sony apparently wants jon watts to return to directing, but he’s currently taking a break as a superhero after leaving the fantastic four.

At this stage, it’s hard to gauge when we can expect to see Spider-Man’s next appearance. if it’s going to bring back to holland, hopefully it won’t be too long a wait. however, if there is going to be a new Spider-Man, the wait could be longer.

spider-man 4 cast: will tom holland return as spider-man?

tom holland has been a bit cagey about his future as peter parker, wanting to keep the focus on the third film.

Initially, he was quoted as saying, “maybe it’s time for me to move on. I also have peter parker to consider, because he’s such a big part of my life,” adding, “if I’m going to play the man spider after 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

However, he later clarified those quotes, saying, “I don’t know what the future of spider-man will look like.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be a part of this. spider-man will always live in me and I know [producer] amy [pascal] and the studio can’t wait to find out what the next chapter of spider-man looks like.

“if that happens with me, then that’s very exciting but, you know, if it’s time for me to go, I’ll do it with pride.”

There’s always the possibility of Holland taking on more of a mentor-like role for a new Spider-Man (miles morale, maybe), but there’s no teasing for that either way, so we can only speculate for now. .

we figured zendaya and jacob batalon would return as mj and ned, respectively. however, there are some big reveals in the new movie that could affect that.

Before we get into them, this is your last chance to avoid the major “no way home” spoilers.

To prevent the multiverse from opening up, Peter hires Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to perform the spell that will make the entire world forget he’s Spider-Man, including MJ and Ned.

In a tearful goodbye, he promises them he’ll find them and make them remember him. A few weeks later, Peter goes to tell MJ the truth when Ned shows up at the restaurant where she works.

He’s about to tell them both the truth, but when he sees a cast on MJ’s head from the movie’s final battle, Peter is reminded that his friends would be in danger if they knew. he decides not to tell her and leaves the restaurant.

That could mean that mj and ned won’t be in a possible fourth movie, though for now we’re just speculating. happy hogan (jon favreau) also doesn’t know peter now, but he does know spider-man, so he might come back.

One person who definitely won’t be in it is Marisa Tomei, as Aunt May is tragically killed by the Green Goblin. the multiverse offers the possibility of an alternative aunt (like the alternative spider-men), but we believe that this will not be done.

It’s also unlikely Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire will return to their roles again, given that their brief but significant appearance is by no means rectified at Home as the plot reseals the multiverse.

however, they now have official mcu names like “the friendly neighborhood spider-man” (maguire) and “the amazing spider-man” (garfield), so who’s to say they couldn’t go through the mcu?

garfield would certainly be ready for another team-up movie, whenever the story calls for it: “it would have to be something unique, very special and serve the audience and serve the character.”

could we see tom hardy as eddie brock and venom in the fourth movie? he appears in the credits scene, but returns to his own universe. (more on him later).

spider-man 4 plot: spider-man 4 is not ready for any way home?

short answer: not really. the climax effectively concludes the trilogy and sets up a blank slate for the future.

As mentioned above, the movie ends without anyone knowing that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, including MJ and Ned. However, Peter is still doing his spider business in the world, so it’s not like he’s retired.

What it means is that a potential fourth movie can do whatever it wants, whether it’s Peter training a new Spider-Man, a standalone adventure facing a new villain, or something else entirely.

“at the end of the movie we just made, you see spider-man make a momentous decision, one you’ve never seen him make before. it’s a sacrifice. and that gives us a lot to work with for the next movie Pascal joked to the New York Times.

One potential option is to deliver a long-awaited battle between Spider-Man and Venom on the big screen. as we saw in the credits scene of venom 2, eddie brock and venom are transported to the mcu.

it’s because of the failed spell that doctor strange casts, but he rectifies it in the end, which means that eddie and venom return to their universe. however, a part of the venom symbiote remains, so it could take over someone in the mcu.

we would be surprised if the mcu created its own poison since tom hardy is so popular with fans. so we figure if the showdown is going to happen, they’ll make a way for spidey to cross over into the venom universe or vice versa.

no way home also makes a fun nod to ned’s villain as a hobgoblin in the comics. we think it’s unlikely we’ll see it on screen, but stranger things have happened in the mcu.
