Tuntari telugu movie review

nara rohit’s tuntari has been creating a lot of buzz in recent weeks. After a huge round of promotions, Director Kumar Nagendra finally hit the screens today. let’s see how it is.

history:-

A group of corporate employees go on vacation to a beautiful mountain resort. there they meet a holy saint who presents them with a newspaper four months in advance of that date. Reading the newspaper, the group discovers that together with a guy named Raju (Nara Rohit) they win a boxing competition worth five million rupees.

Elated at this, they start looking for Raju and eventually catch him in Vizag. On the other hand, Raju is a carefree guy who has no job and spends his life without any goal. The rest of the story is how this group convinces Raju to learn boxing and win the prestigious competition.

positive points:-

The story of the film is quite novel and new to tollywood audiences. the fantasy element is well intertwined with real life and makes up for an engaging story. The talented actor Nara Rohit impresses well in his entertaining role as a careless young man. the way he uses his body language and evokes good fun throughout the movie is the highlight of tuntari.

vennela kishore and shakalaka shankar do their job well. the first half of the movie is good, with a lot of entertainment. latha hegde makes a good debut and plays her role well.

although the main villain, kabir singh doesn’t have much to do in the film, he is impressive during the last ten minutes. the last twenty minutes elevate the proceedings quite nicely and the climactic fight is carefully executed. ali is fine in his referee role and gets some laughs.

negative points:-

One of the biggest negative points of the film is the songs. in a two hour and four minute film, there are five songs that disturb the flow of the film and especially during the second half. the second half is a huge inconvenience and progresses aimlessly until the movie reaches its climax.

There is absolutely no chemistry between the main couple, so the purpose of the film takes a beating during the second half. Though competitive boxing evokes fun, certain fights have dragged on too long and seem silly.

technical aspects:-

sai karthik’s background music and score are quite good. the camera work is decent and shows vizag and its surrounding area well. the edit is jaded as at least three songs could have been cut. the dialogues are funny and well written. the production values are decent and so was the art direction.

as for the director kumar nagendra, he has done a good job with the remake. he executes the first half well and narrates the film with plenty of comedy. Even though he rushes things a bit in the second half, he balances it out nicely during the climax and makes pretty good use of limited resources.

verdict:-

for the first time, nara rohit casts an entertaining role and manages to impress extremely well. His comedic acting and his carefree attitude evoke good fun during the first half, which is Tuntari’s basic asset. but a lackluster second half and too many songs suck the freshness out of it, making this a good movie to watch this weekend.
