jayadev marks the debut of ghanta minister srinivasa rao’s son, ghanta ravi. The police drama is directed by Jayant C Paranji and has hit the screens today. let’s see how it is.
history:-
jayadev (ghanta ravi) is a sincere police officer who gets involved in the deadly murder case of a policeman. After investigating him, he comes to know that a feared don liquor (vinod kumar) is behind all this. the rest of the story is how a sincere and simple deputy inspector like jayadev approaches the powerful don and puts him behind bars.
positive points:-
rookie hero ghanta ravi is doing well and has a long way to go in terms of acting. he has a good physique and will fit very well in serious roles if used well. with time and more movies, he should do better. The heroine of the film, Malavika Raj, looks quite glamorous and provides visual appeal to the audience.
vinod kumar plays a key role after a long time. one of the fights where the hero hides his face from him has been shot quite stylishly. the way the problems faced by the police have been shown in an interesting way. some investigation scenes have been handled well.
negative points:-
jayadev has a very old history and is predictable to the core. From the very first scene, you know exactly what’s going to happen next, as there are no major twists and turns.
it’s very disappointing to see a director like jayanth c who made movies like preminchukundam raa direct this movie in such a bad way. the villain track is so poor that there is nothing more to look forward to as the movie moves into some silly and noisy scenes most of the time.
even the procedures shown have no meaning. the way the hero loses his job and his fight to get back, all this has been shown in a very poor way. there is room for good elevation scenes that have not been used correctly.
technical aspects:-
The film’s production values are just average. the film’s music is fine, as is the background score. the camera work was pretty decent and it showed off the police setup in an interesting way. the editing is pathetic as at least 15 minutes could easily have been cut. Coming to director Jayant C Paranji, he has just sleepwalked through the film and his lack of control over the script is clearly visible in this remake.
verdict:-
Overall, jayadev is too heavy a subject for a newcomer like ghanta ravi. he should have chosen a simple movie to make his entrance into tollywood. Even though he tries very hard in the role of him, the underwhelming storytelling and lack of gripping moments dwarfs this movie and makes it a strictly below-average watch this weekend.
