Aretha Franklin was one of the most iconic singers of all time, and the story of her life and career is being made into a biopic titled Respect.

    The film studio mgm has confirmed that respect will be released on August 13, 2021 in the United States and on September 10 in the United Kingdom.

    Liesl is the first black woman to earn a Tony Award nomination for Best Direction of a Play for Eclipsed.

    She said, “The story of Aretha Franklin’s journey from Detroit wunderkind to international supernova is filled with struggle and triumph, making her life one of the great American stories of all time.”
