nagarjuna has been promoting his new movie, wild dog very aggressively in recent days. the movie comes out today and let’s see if it lives up to the hype or not.

Vijay Varma (Nagarjuna) is a suspended NIA officer who returns to catch the terrorist who masterminded bomb blasts at Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park in Hyderabad. Vijay Varma takes on the mission and even tracks down the terrorists. but things are not as easy as the criminal base in nepal. so how an indian officer goes to nepal and catches the terrorist is the story of the wild dog.
one of the film’s biggest selling points is nagarjuna himself. he looks extremely fit as the nia officer and does well in all the action episodes. his character has been portrayed in a realistic way and nag does quite well in this setting.
The actors who play nag’s assistants are quite impressive and do their parts well. Ali Reza gets a meaty role and does well as a commando. if used well, he can be a good actor in Telugu. sayami kher enters the scene in the second half and is good at the action-packed role of her. diya mirza as nag’s wife shines in some scenes.
The second half is where the action continues, as all the emotions shown during this time are impressive. especially the emotions shown during the climax when nag crosses the border look good. the action scenes in the second half have been well choreographed.
The movie has a boring first half as not much happens during this time. the film starts off on an impressive note but doesn’t continue on quite the same grip. things get interesting only during the interval point. the emotion that a terrorism-based movie should have is missing during the first half.
The story is as simple as the procedures are simple. Nia’s way of tracking terrorists must seem exciting, but that’s not the case here.
the film is based on bomb explosions and the hero’s daughter dies in one of those explosions. there must be a strong emotion regarding this but don’t believe it either. the chosen villain is boring and has no face value. wild dog has so many repeated scenes and the curiosity of what is going to happen next is lacking.
Thaman’s bgm score was given a lot of weight, but he does an average job as his bgm is not good at all. the film’s production values are decent and so was the camera work. the editing is decent and the action shots are well designed. the movie has good dialogue and good production design.
as for the director solomon, he does an acceptable job with the film. he has chosen a realistic story and has set it well. but his narration is boring in the first half. solomon keeps things exciting in the second half and narrates the movie well with decent thrills during the climax.
Overall, Wild Dog is an action drama that has an interesting premise. nagarjuna leads from the front and the second half has good emotions. but to enjoy this part, one must sit through the boring first half. this movie is made for general telugu audience with new setting and different action. so don’t go in with the mindset of watching some kind of gripping thriller, as the wild dog has its own pace and style.
