writer and director andres muschietti’s career began when he worked as an assistant director on the argentinian short film “imágenes del alma” in 1995. the film showed the tragedy of aids in a young family. After his work on this short, he was hired as a production assistant on the set of the famous film adaptation of the musical “Evita” (1996), starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. After his work on “Evita”, Muschietti wrote and directed the short film “Nostalgia at Table 8”. He followed this effort with a job as second assistant director on the Argentine comedy “Una Noche Con Sabrina Love,” about a young man who travels from the Argentine countryside to Buenos Aires in hopes of spending the night with a famous porn star. In 2013 Muschietti turned a short film he had written and directed in 2008 called “Mama” into a feature film. the movie was a horror movie that tells the story of a couple who is tasked with raising two of the husband’s nieces who had been abandoned and left alone to live in the woods for 5 years.
